![]() ![]() Negotiations for a new contract will start in June. In the township commissioners’ vote for the latest retirement package for Klein ( “Harrison irons out details of Michael Klein’s retirement, part-time rehiring until new police chief is found,” July 26, TribLIVE), the only dissenting vote was Chuck Dizard, who stated that he voted in the negative based on “a commitment to honesty, transparency and improving the quality of life in our community for all residents and taxpayers.”ĭizard should choose his words more carefully because he just described the qualities Klein has brought to township residents throughout his tenure. The township’s officers are working under the terms of a three-year agreement that runs through 2020. Klein continues to actively support the Allegheny County drug task force, resulting in drug arrests and significant financial support for the Harrison Township Police Department. This is evidenced by his refusal to be manipulated by those who would take advantage of his office for personal and political gain. His unwavering commitment to protecting township residents and, to an extent surrounding municipalities, is unquestionable. Not only is he one of the best police chiefs to serve Harrison Township, but he has been one of the best police chiefs in Western Pennsylvania. As a former Harrison Township commissioner and police commissioner, it was an honor to serve with Mike Klein. ![]()
